I came off daily antihistamines and changed everything else

Tim wrote #DERMATOGRAPHIA on his own forearm because describing it never worked. Diet, exercise, sleep and stress management are what he relies on now.

Tim reached out to share how he treats his dermatographia naturally.

I've had this for years. Anywhere my skin gets scratched or pressed, a raised line comes up — I've written #DERMATOGRAPHIA on my own forearm just to show people what I mean, because describing it never works.

I took antihistamines for a long time and they did help. But I didn't love the idea of taking something every single day forever, so I started paying attention to everything else instead.

What made a difference for me was the unglamorous stuff. Cleaning up my diet and cutting way back on processed food, sugar and alcohol. Regular exercise. Actually sleeping properly instead of five hours a night. And getting a grip on stress, which for me is by far the biggest driver — bad weeks at work show up on my skin within days.

I won't claim it's cured. On a hot day, or a stressful one, the lines still come up. But the constant background itch is mostly gone, and I go long stretches without thinking about it at all.

I'm not telling anyone to stop their medication. This is just what worked for me, and I wanted it on the record in case it helps somebody else.
